Job Description

So after a month in our new diggs things have settled down and we have a bit of a routine. The owners live in Rancho Santa Fe and only visit three or four times a year, but we do communicate through email and a little on the phone. Our tasks include, everything one would do on there own place, plus a lot more. We have about 5 acres of park like setting to weed, feed, mow, trim, remove leafs, and chase moles. The 5 acre pond has just been seeded around the edges and that will have to mowed as well, plus keeping the level up in the summer(large pump from the river). Those that have lived in the NW for any length of time know what a pain in the arse blackberries are, well they can be good or bad depending on the use, as a hedge for privacy good, covering up all the newly planted trees, bad. This Ranch has a large house that the owners call the barn, nicest damn barn I've ever seen, and it is prestine the ultimate vacation home with a great view and a river. There are a couple of miles of trails that have to be tended and extended, lots of old Oak, Maple, Doug Fir and about a thousand small pine and junipers planted three years ago. Across the road is about 200 acres of clear cut hillside that is being overtaken by Scotch Broom, bad weed hard to get rid of. So there always something to do, general yard work and lots of it, fencing repair couple miles, tree trimming, house maintenace, landscaping, carpentry, and security. Don't worry we have all the tools for the job, riding mower with mulching vacuum, 4 wheel drive Kubota RTV, and assorted hand tools. Most of the major projects are getting close to complete for the winter, so all the inside work can start, remodle the caretakers quarters, organize the tool and supply areas, fix the minor stuff in the house, mostly checking that all the stuff functions and nothing leaks. This are a full time job folks, and I am a little sore at the end of the day, but we are very greatful to be here and have such a beautiful place to live and work. Please consider a trip to south west Oregon, we would love to see you all.

The welcome mat is out and when you stop by I can show you how the leaf blower works. We found this after searching a couple of web sites, workamper.com and caretaker.com, we also looked on craigs list and found this position on the capitalpress web site. We applied for over 10 positions and this one was the best of the bunch and we are ever so greatful.
